Complex film techniques

Match in action
A cut between two angles on the same action

Graphic match
A cut emphasising something similar in the first or second image (usually a shape). This is know as an ellipsis (cutting time) eg. notting hill

 
Eyeline match
Where a character looks in a particular direction. We then see what they are looking at through point of view shot. cuts back to a reaction shot.

Shot-reverse-shot
Used in conversation. the point of view alternates between the two opposite positions

Jump cut
An elliptical shot which seems to interrupt the continuity of a scene.
